Francesca Richiardi & Elena Faccio, co-founders of ACCHITTO (2018)

Elena and Francesca are in Rome. They met at Maison Fendi in fur and embroidery style office, where they immediately had professional synergy which brought them to found ACCHITTO in 2018. The name is meaningful: it comes from the Italian word acchittarsi, whose meaning is to dress up to be noticed; but at the same time ACCHITTO represents the break shot in billiards, an important meaning for the two young entrepreneurs who make with ACCHITTO: “our first move in life.”

How was your passion for jewelry born?

Elena: Since childhood, I have always been fascinated by the world of theatre and opera, and as a chorister, I have been in tour all over Europe. This passion brought me closer to the world of costume and then expanded to embrace the world of fashion and design.

Francesca: I have always been a very curious person and an endless beauty seeker. My passion for jewelry has come naturally, through research and the taste for discovering and investigating fashion archives.

What was your training path?

Elena: I graduated with honors in Fashion Design at the European Institute of Design in Rome and I continued my studies at Marangoni School of Fashion, Art & Design in Milan, after winning a scholarship. In 2014, I presented my first clothing collection at Altaroma and shortly after I began my career at Fendi embroidery style office in Rome.

Francesca: I graduated from the Costume & Fashion Academy in Rome and in 2015 I was selected as young talent by Vogue Italia, exhibiting at Palazzo Morando for the contest “Lineapelle for leather talents”. My career started at Fendi fur style office and, in the same year, I was the first Italian to win the LVMH prize.

How do you manage tasks within your team?

Francesca: We have no set rules. For instance, creation follows a very natural process whereby one of the two gives an input and the other “closes” the circle. We share the same vision, maybe because before starting this professional path together, we have not only based it on our friendship, but we have also confronted each other on the professional level. Working with a partner is crucial to determine if you have the same approach to projects and this is what happened to us.

What do you wish to convey through your jewelry?

First of all, an emotion. Our jewelry belongs to a new category through which we want to convey a lifestyle. A concept that comes from the search for art and from the desire to turn it into emotions. Moreover, we wish to give those who wear ACCHITTO the chance to express their identities through customization of rings, for instance, or to concentrate on the most figurative aspects.

Is there a jewel you are particularly fond of?

We are very attached to Venetian and Sicilian Moors that we have revisited in a modern way, giving them their own character. Moors have a patented mechanism that allows wearers to interchange the face. When the Moors were born, the idea was to give everyone the possibility to choose the face based on their personality. Each Moor is indeed unique: Men, Women, Hybrids who tell of vanity, courage, love. There is The Lover, The Courageous, The Fortunate. Likewise, we are really fond of the belt rings, inspired by Victorian jewelry. In particular, the openable ring Coeurage, which means courage, but also contains the word coeur (heart in French). This is because, for us, ACCHITTO was first of all an act of courage.

What are the peculiar features of your jewelry?

ACCHITTO jewelry combines different cultures and eras. It comes from historical inspiration which looks to the future through design, but also technology and innovation. Our jewels are customizable through a patented mechanism. This is what allows the interchangeability of the Moors. They are made in Italy in collaboration with the best master craftsmen who work with high-quality materials like enamels, Swarovski and bronze dipped in 18k gold.

How do you imagine ACCHITTO in the future?

We would like to continue working with the vision to make people free to express their personalities and to feel emotions through our creations. This is the greatest satisfaction combined with the perception of the value of our jewels by those who wear them. Starting from this, we wish to expand our distribution network abroad. And, why not, to consider in future years other product categories that go well with jewelry.
